I have just reformatted my one computer that is running windows 98, it has been on my home networking before and no problem. This is not the main machine where it is hooked up to, but one that it runs off of. I for some reason, can't get the internet going on it. I use cable, and have modem with four port router. All is working except this one computer that I just reformatted. Usually, it just comes up normally, but this time cannot locate that it is on the internet. Is there anyone there that can tell me how to fix this problem. I forgot how to ping it to see if the connection is going through. Please help if you can. Hopefully, I gave enough info to do so, if not please let me know what else I need to do this. Thanks ahead of time for any help, anyone has.

Check one of the other, working, PCs to find it's IP address.

    For NT/2K/XP
    start~run~cmd and then
    ipconfig

    For 9X/ME
    start~run~winipcfg

Once you have that information, on the non-working 98 PC
    start~run~command and then
ping <put in the IP address of the other PC>

Also on the non-working PC, start~run~winipcfg and find what IP address & subnet mask it has.

Post back with the ping results and the winipcfg results from the non-working PC.
