Restore Mozilla Mail settings

    My system locked-up and I had to turn-off my computer without using the Shutdown method (WinXP Pro SP2). When I re-started Mozilla, all of my Mail settings (I had 3 different accounts st-up) were gone and it asked me to set-up a new mail account. Is there anyway to restore my old settings?

    Welcome to the Forum, RogerF!

    RogerF,

    Having to shutdown improperly is what causes the problem, and Mozilla loses the Profile. Use the latest backup of your prefs.js file, replacing the existing prefs.js file.

    If you haven't a current backup, then follow this guideline:
    Lost Mail & Newsgroups Settings.

    Let us know if you continue to have problems.

    Thanks Ramona. I didn't have a back-up so I ended-up deleting the prefs.js file and then when I re-setup the accounts (as if I were setting them up for the first time) all of my saved mail was there! :D I have since downloaded MozBackup. Thanks again for your help. - Roger
