    Mike, Dazie, Help me!
What's the best way to completely remove W/ME and still retain all my files/programs/data? Due to other problems I encountered this past weekend,(see my post at hardware) a lot of my windows files got corrupted. I don't have an uninstall option on IE. I looked and found IE can't be uninstalled from ME manually, so I guess my next option is to uninstall-reinstall ME (restore is not an option). I have another h/d ready if that's any help.

    Thanks, Blu

    Hi Blufx
Why not just install ME ontop of itself and not lose anything?

Using Windows ME there are only two choices.

    1--overtop re-re-install.
    2--Reformat and start over.

IF you have a machine that has a small C: drive and most stuff other than the OS on it you will not lose too much. Will just need to re-install the other stuff overtop of itself.

If you have just one HD and and one partition. Oh Well.

Using 98 or ME the CL drive needs to be no larger then 2 to 2.5gig.

    Oh yeah

I just replaced my hard drive, so I have the same files on both. Format one and start copying?

Just be careful of what you copy. Unless you copy the FULL outfit.

Do not copy any of the OS files or you may create broblems.

Just because the name os the OS may be the same it does not mean the files are. Especially if any updating/upgrading has been done.

Software other than the OS * MAY BE * OK. but you will need to re-install to have it work properly anyway.

I wasn't planing to replace any OS files, but I guess I should just re-install programs. I've had problems with some of them.
Thanks for the help. I 'm starting that now.
