I would like to replace my 7.1 with another browser, but I do not want to lose all of my profile data, bookmarks, mail, etc. Are there better browers that you can use, that will do this?

    Thank You For Your Help

    Welcome to the Forum, mikkeyd!

    mikkeyd,

Your Profile will be untouched when you uninstall Netscape 7.1. Once you uninstall, using Add/Remove, also do this:

Delete the Netscape Folder located here: C:\Program Files\Netscape
(providing you have no other version of Netscape or Mozilla installed)

If you have installed plugins, then move the plugins folder to a temporary folder BEFORE uninstalling Netscape 7.1

Next: Delete the mozilla.org Folder located here:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org
(providing you have no other version of Netscape or Mozilla installed)

Once you have done all of the above, REBOOT THE PC

My recommendation would be Firefox 1.5.0.1 Browser, and Thunderbird 1.5 Mail Client. However, if you prefer a suite, then you may prefer SeaMonkey 1.0. SeaMonkey looks exactly like Netscape, however, it runs so much faster, and is current on Security and Bug fixes, which are present in Netscape 7.1. It too is an excellent Browser, and replaces the discontinued Mozilla Browser.

Firefox and Thunderbird will automatically migrate your Profile, without any user intervention. SeaMonkey will simply pick up your Netscape 7.1 Profile and use it as is. Here is a Screen Shot of the Import Wizard that both Thunderbird and Firefox use.

If you have further questions, let us know.

Thanks for posting back and letting us know that all went well with your move to SeaMonkey. I believe you will be very pleased with the browser's performance!
