Does anyone have any experience whether refrigerating inkjet cartridges (both BW and color--bought in advance for the day the one in the printer runs dry) extends their life?
I asked Hewlett-Packard support and they claim no knowledge.
I have not suggested freezing since I suspect freeze-dry damage might occur, but if anyone has info, I would appreciate that, too.

If the cartridges are *completely* sealed, I don't think refrigeration will make any difference other than reduce any molecular activity. ;)

Then there is the possibility that the ink may congeal over time, defeating the object! :D

Molecular decay is always slowed at lower temperatures. As for what you would really gain by refrigeration, I have no idea; however, I would recommend against freezing for two reasons. The ink in those cartridges is liquid and liquid expands when frozen. It is possible you could crack the container. The other reason may or may not apply to your ink; but, pigmentation and chemical mixtures of ink are somewhat similar to paints and dyes. Most paints and dyes have warnings on their labels against freezing.
