reformat xp

    Hi ... Is there a way to reformat windows xp ... i am getting a error and it wouldn't boot up ... I even try to repair it still no luck so now i need to know if its possible to reformat my hard drive ??? Any help would be greatly apprecaited

    Sounds a bit drastic, but yes - it is relatively straightforward.

    Boot from XP Installation CD (If you have a Recovery CD use this and the job will be done for you and the PC restored to the state it was in when delivered, but as you mentioned Repair I guess you have the installation CD)

    Follow the instructions on the screen to install Windows XP - on the appropriate screen select the partition - if more than one - on which you want to install XP - this will be the partition on which XP is already installed.

    Windows will warn about doing this - ignore and proceed and take the option to format the partition - do full rather than quick format. Windows will then be installed on your m/c.
