Reformat w/ XP

    Inexperience rules again. How to format w/ XP? When I use disc utility it tells me the drive is in use and no access. Can I get to DOS from XP?:confused:

    There is no DOS in XP.

    What are you trying to format? If it is your system disk, then you need to do it from setup or the recovery console. If it is another drive, you need to terminate all processes that are using that drive.

    In all cases, it is easiest to boot from the XP CD, enter the Recovery Console, and juste enter:

    format X:

    where X: is the drive you want formatted.

    alternatively if its the system disk, just boot on a 98 floppy and doo fdisk ;)
