Resolved Redundant Windows Update

I receive the same windows update(KB954430) each time I boot my computer,

How can I stop this? It delays my shutting down because the update installs each time.

None of the trouble shooting procedures worked and I couldn't execute the installation program in safe mode.

After spending quite some time I got the problem solved as follows:

The update had sucessfully installed many, many times. I downloaded it one more time, saved the update on my desktop, and shut down, allowing the latest automatic update to install even again.

I then disconnected my modem in order to stop the re-offering of the update and rebooted. Then, I opened the executable update from my desktop. The installation wizard gives three options, one of which is removal of the previously installed update. I opted the removal. Then I once again opened the executable file and opted to install.

If later you find that the problem has returned, and you had previously marked your thread as solved, follow the steps above. Instead 'Mark this thread as solved' you will see that in this case Mark this thread as unsolved is listed.
