    Hi,

I have a local network with 4 machines, 3 using W95 and 1 using XP Home Ed. When I log onto the 95 boxes I'm prompted for my password and then get automagically connected to all network drives. But when I log onto my XP HE box I'm given a prompt that my network drives are not connected.

Then I have to go and individually type in the password for each network drive. Is there a way to let XP remember and connect me to the network drives each time I log onto the account?

It should be doing that now. Something not set right.

Are you using Simple File Sharing on the XP box?

Windows Explorer~Tools~Folder Options~View and look toward the bottom of the Advanced Settings list.

    Hi Newt,

It's not there, or I'm really holding out too long for getting reading glasses. Too bad MS still isn't allowing us to do select all/copy/paste ops with these little pop-ups. The darned things run the machine and you have to hand re-type everything in it to communicate the info to someone who's remote.

    Sorry for the rant!

I'm on XP home ed on a Dell. Oh well.

marty - that explains that. With XP-home you don't have any other options than simple file sharing so no option is offered.

As to the connection thing - if you have mapped the drives and selected to reconnect at logon, have you checked to see if the drive mappings are still there? Sometimes XP won't actually reconnect until you try to use the drive.

I'm a little hampered here since I've never even seen a copy of XP-home. Only dealt with the Pro version and they do quite a few things differently.
