Hi, I have been getting random BSoDs/System Restarts. I think it may be due to a driver but I have updated all of mine using RadarSync and it still does it, really only when I load up video games for some reason. It has done it before on Flash on the internet. It started doing it af ew months back before I got internet (I was moving) so I got tired of it, updated my stuff, nothing still did it. So I reformatted, it still is doing it, even after I updated. But if I don't load up games or anything I'm cool. It's very weird.

Does anyone know of any solutions? I have a debug log..

    UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP_M (1000007f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
    If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
    use .trap on that value
    Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
    Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.

The crash is in ati3duag.dll, which is an ATI driver. So I'll look at either the latest version, or if that is the one giving you problems, a prior version.

    older version

You can get the older version of that driver from Radarsync's website. Try here for starters http://www.radarsync.com/driver/ati [if you can figure out which one you have, then the download page for the driver has the latest version and the older versions. I'd try several until it works.

    K. It took a while but I finally just went to the bottom of ATI's driver list and downloaded 7.7 from July of 07. It seems to be working fine now, I let CS:S run for a while then I actually played it and it went smoothly. I hope when ATI releases new drivers again it doesn't do this. By any chance, does it say why the .dll wasn't working properly?

Hi, SchoollyB. Welcome to Windows BBS! :)
General consensus among the hardware gurus (i.e., mattman and Rockster2U) around here seems (to me) to be as follows...

The most suitable drivers for any particular video card tend to be drivers released within a few months after the card was manufactured/released. Sometimes, the driver that ships with the card may be the best.

The "latest & greatest" drivers are often not the best for older cards.

That actually makes alot of sense, since I'm guessing they have to include stuff for the newer model cards in the new drivers as well which may cause unforseen errors in previous models. Maybe.
