I'm having a bit of a problem with Quick Launch on both my computer and my mother's computer. We're both running XP Home. When Quick Launch is enabled, neither computer allows for the taskbar to remain at it's normal size. Instead, the taskbar is locked at twice its normal size (normal for us being the minimal visible height).

Any potential fix to this problem? It doesn't really bother me, but my mother is computer illiterate enough to need (or very much want, at least) her Quick Launch. Thanks for any help.

guessing here ... probably a size issue where the taskbar has been resized and then locked.

rclik and unlock. then position them as u wish and re-lock em.

No luck there. It's not that the taskbar is locked (or according to the properties page, it's not locked), but I still can't move it. This only occurs when the quick launch buttons are enabled. As soon as I remove quick launch, I can take the taskbar back down to its normal size. Locking and unlocking the taskbar has had no effect... I still have the same problems.

see the 'size' slider bars. my bet = ONE of u'r active toolbars is HUGE so ... when u add another, win sez 'i can't fit it in one row so i'll create another' ... i'm guessing u'll find that the sliders are WAY over to the right which makes it SEEM like it's normal but it's really the entire length of the taskbar.

a sign of this = when u open multiple windows, u'r taskbar buttons either 'stack' or are so small u can't really ID them

If there's no slider bar to the far right look at the lower part of the taskbar on the left end. If there's one there, drag it straight up and it'll jump to the right of the quick launch icons. Then try dragging the taskbar down. If it goes but your quick launch icons extend farther to the right than you want, drag the right slider bar to the left. When you do this though, be sure you don't wander to the bottom of the screen with the cursor. If you do, you'll be right back where you were, with a double task bar and you'll have to start over again. Before you can see the slider bars you'll have to unlock the taskbar first.
