    joezep1--Christer has given you a good short answer.
    But what do you mean by "toast "? And what version of Windows is it?
    Perhaps we could help fix your present Windows, if we have some specifics.

    In any event, there certain things to be done before you install SP2 over an earlier version of WinXP.
