Resolved Problem Shutting Down

For the past two or three days, whenever I shut down my computer, I get a Windows pop up stating that it is shutting down SuperAntiSpyware However, I do not have SAS running. What can be wrong? Any suggestions as to what I can do? Any help will be appreciated.

ohmega, are you running SAS-PRO, with realtime-protection? if you are not running SAS-PRO, with realtime-protection, there is no need to have SAS running in real-time, with its icon running in the systray..

i am running SAS-PRO, with realtime-protection, and, sometimes, when i am logging out of a user-account, or when i am shutting down my computer, SAS hangs, where i get a message saying the SAS process is not closing.. it doesn't really cause a problem for me so i don't worry about it.... eventually the SAS process gets closed..

best settings? if you are running SAS-PRO and you want to take advantage of SAS's realtime-protection, you should have SAS enabled to run at startup and to show the icon in the "system tray "..

if you don't want SAS to run in real-time, with realtime-protection, you should disable "run at startup ", and disable "show icon in system tray ", as well..

mattman - Thanks for your reply. I am running SAS free edition. I followed your instructions, and shut down a couple of times without any problems.

I am curious why this never happened before when I have been using SAS for many years. That made me think there was something causing this behavior, i.e, some update that messed things up or XP misbehaving.

Once you have posted those details, when still looking at your thread, near the top of your thread you'll see Thread Tools. Click the down arrow to expand the drop down menu, at the bottom of it you'll see Mark this thread as solved. Click on it to mark your thread as solved.

If later you find that the problem has returned, and you had previously marked your thread as solved, follow the steps above. Instead 'Mark this thread as solved' you will see that in this case Mark this thread as unsolved is listed.

I was hoping that someone might give me a clue as to what could have caused SAS to start behaving in this manner. I would prefer to leave SAS the way I had it, but if there is nothing that can be done......OK.

Hi Ann. You can try this tweak which will force non responding tasks to close when you shut down Windows. Automatically Close Applications Not Responding at Shutdown.
