I use this program a lot, for creating cards, calendars and it has all my contact information and addresses.

I get the following message when I try to start it:

    Runtime error
    J:\Program files\PrintMaster Silver 17\PMW.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Can anyone help me with this problem. Any help will be appreciated.

FYI, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the same thing happens. I am in the process of preparing for my husband's 80th birthday, so I really need this program to work.

I believe Printmaster 17 uses the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (type of programming language used for certain software functionality).

If Windows Updates are automatically installed on your computer, a newer version of .NET probably got installed andthat conflicts with Printmaster 17.

Try uninstalling any .NET Framework listed in Add-Remove Programs. Then download and install version 2.0 and see if Printmaster now works.

Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package

Thank you for your reply, TonyT.

I do not allow automatic updates. I check out the updates and then D/L to my computer and then install them myself.

I do have .NET 2.0 Service Pack 1 installed as well as .Net 1.1 and .Net 3.0 Service Pack 1. I know that I need 1.1 for one of my other programs, but I do not remember which one. I have had all three installed for a long time and it was only when I posted that PM stopped working.

Should I still install the Package you suggest? Is there anything else I can try?

I also restored an Image from Dec. but everything stayed the same. This worries me because it should have fixed the problem.......correct?

As in a Ghost image or Acronis image? Yes, that should have corrected things if PM worked when the image was made.

    Don't remove any .NET stuff.

TonyT - Thanks for the link. I wasn't able to get through until today. Kept receiving page not available. I expect to receive it in my e-mail.,BUT....all of a sudden PM 17 is working.
What do you think about that? I will keep the hotfix in case this problem comes back, but how can PM17 fix itself? I am dumbfounded!

Thanks so much for your help.

P.S. I just got a link from MS and d/L the hotfix, however, the needed password is only good until 2/23. I will have to go through the process of requesting it again if PM stops working again. I am printing out this information in case I need it.
