    Here's an odd thing.

Up until recently, if I ran the computer and then, later, powered up the printer I could quite happily print 1, 2 or indeed many pages with no problems.

Suddenly, if I try the same tactic I can still print a single page, but any attempt to print multiple pages results in the first page, and usually the last page, being printed more or less ok, but the other pages are basically just random lines, or overp[rints and so on. The printer spews out paper regardless of pages needed, many of them blank.

Now, if I restart the printer, the problem is solved and the printer behaves quite normally. It seems as if the spooler was corrupt and the restart clears the problem

The only change that I have made recently is to 'share' the printer.

Is it possible that in this configuration it is necessary to invoke the printer before booting up the computer?

The problem may well be that your printer driver needs to be updated. I'd try that first and while visiting the manufacturers site, look for any other support or info re: your particular printer.

Until you solve the problem, you should be able to get it working again by restarting the spooler service instead of rebooting.

    Control Panel > Admininistrative Tools > Services > Printer Spooler > right-click > Restart.
