I have thrown together a presentation (a series of fifteen slides with some animation) that I would like to put to music from a CD. How can I do this? Thanx in advance...

    Hi Damien,

This should be simple, but it's not :)

Copy the CD track to your HD

Open your Powerpoint Presentation and open the first slide in 'Slide View'

Insert > Movies & Sounds > Sound from File - locate sound file on HD > OK

'Do you want your sound tp play automatically ..........' > Yes

Go to 'Slide Sorter View' - ensure first slide is highlighted and set up the Slide Transition > Apply to all. Note Sound should be left as default - No Sound.

Return to 'Slide View' for first slide

    Slide Show > Custom Animation

In the dialogue box - ' Check to animate slide show object' tick and highlight the Media entry -

Order & Timing Tab - Start Animation Automatically

Multimedia Settings - check 'While playing - continue slide show' and 'Stop Playing' after the no of slides in your presentation (15).

Check the 'hide while playing' box to hide the speaker icon whic appeared when you added the sound.

This should work fine - if not post back - but i am no expert on PowerPoint :D

    HTH

This is just a "wana try it out suggestion "

Windows Movie Maker 2 for XP maybe a tool for this project or the next. I do not know how much it can import from PP, but grabbing anything from anywhere is what makes this program so functional... including the music. Final output can be saved to a local file, burned to CD, or email with re-sizing / compression. During the production phase, you can add, edit, delete, replay, all by drop and drag or point and click to your hearts content. Mixing slides, video, audio, music from different sources is what this program is all about. You can also type in text.

    Worked out great

2 Pete: Worked great. Just what I needed. I have to adjust some ot the timing & animations, it worked for what I needed it for this time. Thanx

2 Dennis: I am still downloading the movie maker. Should take another hour (still using the {expletive} dialup connection). Looks like a nice to have toy that I can put to use in the future. Thanx for the tip.

(still using the {expletive} dialup connection).

Used dialup for nine years, been on broadband for 18 months. It is heaven on earth.

I am on a military base in Japan right now. I moved into base housing from out in town not thinking about what I would be giving up. Oh well, next tour will hopefully be in Kawait, where they are using broadband.

I tried the movie maker & I will never use power point again. I cant believe how easy it was.

    Thanx for the info

Ease of use with professional results... truely one of MS's free golden gems.
