Hy, this is my first post and i hope that some good soul will help me.

I have a problem with my PC. It constantly crashes no matter what OS i use. I have AMD athlon 1000Mhz, 384 MB RAM with Win XP pro

I think my problem is my power managment because i allways get the same errors. BSOD - IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error and today i went through my event logs and there is APCI error that is rather constant. There are 2 err masages and after that there is a masssage abot some sys error.
The message in event wiever is this :

AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address (0xcf8), which lies in the 0xcf8 - 0xcff protected address range. This could lead to system instability....

I think taht the last one is log of err msg which i get when i start my PC which says that my computer just recoverd from serious error.

It crashes usualy when i play games (i don't play oftes so it doesn't bother me) but lately it started crashing while i use aplications lika Word, HTML editing tools and such. Maybe it crashes when i use a lot of resorces like RAM, because if i work with small files (up to 30 pages of text in word or a small game) it works just fine. If i start a bigger game (like 3D games, or strategies, large text files....) it crashes after few minutes.

I did a little research and now i know that APCI has something to do with power managment, and that is conected to IRQ's.

What i don't know is how to repair this problem, so if someone can give me a hint, or some place on net that has some info on this sort of problem i would be thankful.

    or you could learn more

    hi :
Sounds like you need to go to your bios mfg. or motherboard mfg. and look for an upgrade for your bios . the first screen on boot up should show you what version of bios you have .
Then compare with what is available . WARNING WARNING this can be hazardous to the computer always back up your bios first . ALWAYS

Be sure to read up on this first if you are unfamiliar with this process

    good luck
    jsdkr :D
