I have a DSL internet connection (verizon) on my desktop computer. I use a westall external modem & I run W2k Pro. How can I set up my new notebook computer (Windows XP Home) to share this connection (preferrably wireless)? I am a novice with this sort of thing so please don't take anything for granted.
    Thanks

Easiest way by far is to get a router/switch. Run you $50 to $75 for wired and $100-$130 for wireless. Plus a wireless NIC for the laptop.

The device (like the LinkSys BEFW11S4) will connect to your DSL/Cable modem and your PCs will connect to the switch side of it. The device takes care of getting your IP address from the ISP and then routing traffic from all your internal PCs to and from the internet. You won't need any additional IP addresses from the ISP.

Specific setup instructions are on here and available with a search. If you use network router switch as your terms you will find a bunch. Any questions remaining after you've read thru them, just ask.

Now that is a really nice idea. Really. Nice.

Although truth be told, my motive for recommending their stuff is a bit self-serving. I figure the dang things are so automatic that anyone getting one isn't likely to have to post back for more setup-help. :)
