I need to download a program that converts documents to PDF, preferrably a free one. Which is the best to do this?

I want the best that will not download a bunch of junk to my computer ie.,unwanted pop-ups, ads, etc..

I installed Nitro PDF on this Windows 7 laptop, but haven't tested all of it's capabilities yet. From what I have read it should do what you are asking.

Here is a WikipediA page listing PDF programs.

    List of PDF software

JTee, as far as I know yes, I am not a heavy PDF user but I have never had a situation where I could not open a PDF document regardless from where it was coming from. No problem printing, program is small format not like Acrobat.
Some years ago I had problems with Acrobat and it gave me the willies, so someone on the BBS Forum here did advice me to go to PDF-XCange Viewer can' remember who, to long ago, but I have never looked back since.
I am using it on my old XP machine, Win 7 on the Laptop and now win8.1 64 bit desktop.
    What more can I say.

I see you must have marked this resolved before I had a chance Bobbo; my computer was malfunctioning & I did not even submit my reply thanking everyone. I had to log out and log back in.

It wasn't me. I believe the only person that can do that is the OP (that's you). Maybe Admin. can, but I'm not sure about that. Anyway, glad to have been part of the help you got.

OP, Moderators & Admin are able to mark a thread as Resolved - we prefer the OP does so and often post reminders to this effect, e.g. .....

I don't know how it was marked 'resolved', but I am grateful for the help & suggestions I received. I was in the process of replying and marking the issue resolved when my computer froze up and I wasn't able to complete what I was doing, and had to turn my computer off & back on, and when I did my reply was posted & the issue was marked 'resolved'(???) In any case, thanks to everyone who came to my aid!
