Since I switched off my PC from the plug. It will not start up again. During the start-up I get the options

    Safe mode
    Safe mode with networking
    Safe mode with command prompt
    Last known good configuration
    Start normally

I choose Last known good configuration and then a blue screen flashes with text on, then restarts. This also hapens when I choose safe mode and start normally.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

At the Boot Options screen, select "Disable reboot on error." Then you may be able to tell us what the text says on the error screen.

Looking at the posts you have made in the past it seems that your computer has a history of problems, if indeed you still run the same computer.

It is unfortunate that the computer is set to the default of 'Restart on System Error' as the information on the blue screen can be more than helpful in determining the source of the problem.

So the first question is ....

Is your XP installation CD a retail copy or a Recovery disk?

To add to surferdude2's post only relatively new BIOS's have this option AFAIK.

As you have a retail copy of XP I think your best approach is a Repair of XP ....

Boot from the WinXP CD (you may have to change a setting in your BIOS to allow you to boot from the CD - set the boot order to CD-ROM > Floppy > Hard Drive). Do not choose the option to repair an XP installation using Recovery Console when prompted, choose the option to To set up Windows XP now press ENTER.

After more files have been copied, you'll get another selection screen where you should select the current XP installation, & the option To Repair the selected Windows XP installation, press R.

When the computer is up and running right click My Computer icon > Properties > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery > Settings button and uncheck under System Failure 'Automatically restart'. If the computer crashes again with a blue screen it will stop there and not restart. The error message on that screen is helpful in identifying the cause of the crash.
