When I insert a DVD or CD into my Sony DRU 840 DVD/CD player the PC reset itself. I've flashed the BIOS and updated my operating system, but it does not solve the problem.I'm using Windows XP SP3. I've tried another DVD/CD player (a Samsung) but the PC still resets. I've allso changed the DVD/CD player from master to slave and back again but it still resets the PC. I've updated the drivers in Device Manager but it still resets the PC when I insert a DVD or CD.

Is your pc randomly rebooting itself? You can go to

Control Panel->System icon->Advance tab->Startup & Recovery Settings button. UNcheck/disable the "auto reboot" option. Instead of rebooting you'll probably get a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) which can be searched on for a solution.

You can go to http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 to search on for example: STOP 0x00000050
