    I am running Win98SE, 160MB Ram, 10GB drive. I just recently
purchased the above software ver. 8.02. I finished reading thru
the manual half which I understood the other half was like reading my insurance policy.

The question that I would like to ask is this. I have read various
article's that mention putting the Swap File on a different partition
to reduce the chances of fragmentation of the Swap File.

Reading thru this manual I see no mention of this. When I did try
to move the swap file to the other partition it would not let me do it.

The partition that I created was "D" and it was set up as a logical
    partition.

Can this be done and how?

    Thank you

What size was the partition? Has to be bigger than 500MB minimum. Best bet make it 1GB and after the move, then resize it down.
But for me , because of the speed of computers today, I do not worry about it generally.

How did you "try to move it" ?
As Train says, there is not a lot of point changing this setting
nowadays. With 160 mega, it is unlikely the swap file will ever
    be used.
    regards

With Win98SE it does pay to move ( if possible ) the swap file to another partition and set it to a minimum fixed size.

This keeps a swap file of a permanent size and place. And helps a GREAT deal to keep the fragmentation of the C: drive down.

And the OS is not always have to find a space to use.

I myself ( in SE anyway ) use Norton Speed Disk to put the swap file at the front of the partition it is on. Then use Windows Defrag thereafter.
