    Outlook won't open

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am posting this under a different section now:
I can use my computer but have no clue on fixing it. I may be in the wrong section. My office products have 2003 after the names.
    Problem:
I shutdown my computer yesterday after installing the Canon photo software and multiple other upgrades were downloaded at the same time, I believe there were 9. Now I can't open Outlook. It starts to open and then I get a screen that says "Business Contact Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close ". It asks if I want to send an error report and then I am asked if I want to open Outlook in "safe mode ". I have tried both yes and no on both screens. I then get "Outlook failed to open in safe mode, would you like to start detect repairs?" If I click yes "windows installer" comes up for small business edition 2003. I also get a "configuring Outlook" box when I try to open in safe mode.
Please help me, I can't live without Outlook.
    Thank you very much!!!

The other Upgrades you are talking about, do you mean the MS Updates? You can go to Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs and put a check in the box that says Show Updates near the top, and it will show all the updates that came yesterday. If one or more were for Office, you can remove them and see if this helps. They can always be downloaded again. You could try them 1 at a time to see if you can find the one causing the problem.
You could also try uninstall the Cannon Photo Software that you did. I would not think that this had anything to do with it.

    Thank you

    Mr. Brill,
Thank you so much for the advice! I cannot explain how excited I was when Outlook started without an error message. I deleted all the updates. Outlook is my lifeline, now I need to figure out how back it up for the next time.
    Thank you!!!

You are quite welcome. Glad all is well now.
Set Windows up to Download the updates and notify you when they are done. Then open it up and click on Customize and install them one at a time. That way, you can find the culprit.
