I've got a problem w/ Outlook 2007 that has been going of for about a week now. When I start Outlook, everything runs fine. The longer Outlook is active, the more it starts to slow down. At start up, opening an email, a personal folder, contacts, etc. is instantaneous. After 30 min. or so, these same tasks take a bit longer and will take even longer as time progresses until it reaches the point where Outlook is almost unusable. At that point, I have to restart Outlook & the cycle repeats itself.

I've tried archiving old messages in personal folders, etc. but it does not seem to make any difference.

It sounds more like a memory/pagefile issue or some other running app has a big mem leak.

Which OS are you using and how much ram is installed?
Do you run any huge apps on the machine?
After you fist launch Outlook and check mail...If the oc sits idle - does Outlook slow down?

Runnin' Vista Ultimate 64 w/ 8 gigs. There may be one new background app that could cause problems. I'll kill it & see what happens.

Overall, no huge apps that go constantly. I can boot up, start outlook to check e-mail & then walk away. Same thing happens.

I removed the suspicious app. & restarted Outlook. No change in behaviour. Whenever I try & open an Outlook folder, etc. the CPU usage goes up a bit but nothing extraordinary. Nothing in paging or elsewhere looks abnormal to my eyes.

I ran the Office Repair app. this morning. It said that it did not find any problems though it did make a couple of registry changes. Overall, no net change to the slow-down.:(

Crud...Im sorry HowardParsons. I will keep checking. My 3rd tier tech support had me do something at the cmd prompt the other day and it worked for one of my computers but not for the other. I cant remember what the command was but as soon as I can get that info, I will give it to you to try.

    Whenever you can . . .

I'll be happy for the information. :)

I also tried "Scanpst.exe ". It found errors & saith that it did some repairs but I see no difference.:(
