If you want to save your email messages to a folder, you can open OE. Make the window smaller so that you can see your desktop also. Then open My Computer and browse to the location you want to save your messages. When you have the folder open make that window smaller so that you can see the contents of both windows. Then drag and drop the messages from OE into the folder.

Appreciate you providing all the info on OE. I'll have to study the language and see if I can make the backup program work? Is there is an easier method to backup? Does windows have a backup utility program, hidden somewhere, that is a of any value? Thanks.

    Pray f:mad: r rain.

    Backup Outlook Express E-mail Messages
Useful if you have to reinstall Windows or format your hard drive.

    Open Outlook Express.

Click on the TOOLS Menu and select OPTIONS

Click the MAINTENANCE Tab and then click on Store Folder

You now see the location of your Mail Folder.
Highlite the Folder Location and press CTRL+C to copy the location.

Click Cancel and then Cancel again to close all boxes.

Click the Windows Start button and the click Run. In the open box press CTRL+V to paste the mail location, then click OK.

You should now have a window containing you e-mail database files.

From the EDIT Menu, click Select All. Edit Menu click COPY. Now close the window.

Right click your desktop, click NEW and then FOLDER.
Type a name for the folder and hit ENTER.

Double click the Folder you just created to open it. From the EDIT Menu select PASTE. Close the window.

You have now backed up your E-mail Messages. Save the folder to a disk or a floppy.

To Restore your Messages at a later date.
Open Outlook Express, File - Import - Messages . Select Microsoft Outlook Express Version 5 or 6. Click Next.
Then select "import from a OE5 or OE6 Store Directory ". Click OK, then browse to the folder you created earlier, click next, the rest is up to you which folders you wish to import.

Your E-Mail messages are now safe for a restore. Sincerely hope a crash never happens.

Have a nice day c:cool:  l day.:)

Aleekat--Was very pleased to see Lis' answer to his/her own question!! :)
I have the following reference on the subject,
    http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com//backup/simple.htm
but the last paragraph seems to tell me what not to do but does not tell me what to do. Can you clarify what Tom Koch meant?

Having done this. I believe he means don't try to copy via explorer and just put it in OE using the import feature.
