Does Outlook Express have an outgoing progress box feature, similar to Mozilla products, that can be enabled?

Nice picture, but my version 6.0 doesn't look like that. I guess I need a later version. Thanks.

I found the box you show by closing out Outlook Express while sending a large message. The box is marked "hidden ". How do I un-hide it?

I find the details button controls what is displayed when the box is visable. The only way I can see the box is to close out the OE window. It is not like it is hidden behind an other window, it takes a few seconds to be generated.

Does the box still show up on large mails? If so, that's about as good as it gets. Watching the bar flash for a split second on a one line email isn't going to accomplish much;)

This is a problem that I have not heard of or seen in OE before - scouring the MS KB and Google comes up empty handed. Try as I may I cannot hide it in my copy of OE despite tinkering with various settings.
I think this is an iteration of the window you want - and should see by default. You see the same if you close OE with unsent messages - the window is not generated IMO until OE has partly closed - hence the delay.

I have two further suggestions .....

Is OE set as the default emailer in IE > Tools > Internet Options > Programs?

Your identity may be corrupted - indeed OE may be corrupted. Try creating a new identity and see if the problem remains.

Which version of IE are you using?

OE is not the default mail as I use it only to send large attachments to Verizon that Seamonkey can't handle. That is the reason I want to observe the upload progress. All folders are empty except for the addresses. FILE, PROPERTIES also does not work. IE is 6.0.

If you could try setting OE as the default emailer it would clear up that possibility.

As you have other problems I suggest following some of the steps in ....

An Outlook Express Basic Repair kit

    specifically.....

    Reregister Outlook Express

Reregister libraries, noting that regsvr32 msjava.dll will fail as MS Java no longer exists in XP.

After you tell OE to send/receive, or if it is in the process of sending or receiving, you can see the progress by clicking on the send/receive icon. You can also activate the STATUS toolbar by clicking on the view/then layout/then check mark status bar.

Interesting - do you have .....

Tools > Options > Send - Send messages immediately checked. If so that would, I think, explain matters.

I keep that unchecked so that I can have second thoughts or make additions to the mail and then send manually - thus I always see the progress window :)

Jim - thanks for unravelling that :)

I have it checked because I want the message to go when I click SEND. If I am not sure if it is correct, I save in DRAFTS folder. Whatever works is fine, and I am now happy with OE. Thanks to all.
