The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.charter.net', Server: 'mail.charter.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I've been getting that message for a few weeks. Pretty much, it started after I upgraded to SP2. I tried disabling the firewalls and what-not, but it didn't do anything.

    Any ideas?

    DukeDevils9192--Just some ideas.
    1) SP2 automatically installs a FireWall. Try turning it off. (Control Panel|Windows Firewall) If you already have another firewall, you do not need the Windows Firewall. In fact today's advice is to run only one firewall.
    2) Can you access the internet?
    3) If you are paying your ISP for this service, phone Tech Service.
    4) More ideas here, but you will have to alter things for XP.
