    Using windows 95 on a old computer that is very slow. Explorer is already installed but not Outlook Express. Is there somewhere that I can download OE by itself without having to go the whole route of getting Explorer. This is an older person using this and change is very hard to cope with, so would like to keep that to a minimum. The MS Outlook on his machine is not working and far too complicated for him to use anyway and he mainly accesses email and with OE he could access his hotmail and yahoo mail all in one place. Any help appreciated. He pays $20 a month for connection and has time limits, get the picture here? Thanks for any and all help.

    Outlook Express install files should be included with the original install files for Internet Explorer. You don't say which version of Internet Explorer is in use and it's been awhile since I've used Windows 95, so try this:

    Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Internet Explorer and Internet Tools > Add/Remove > Add a component...

    Outlook Express is a component of Internet Explorer. If the suggestion posted above does not work you can download a newer version of IE at the following link;

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie...sp2/default.asp

    Once the page has loaded click on the link;

    "Internet Explorer 5.01 Service Pack 2 "

    This link will take you to a page where you can download Version 5.01 Service Pack 2 of Internet Explorer, which will upgrade your existing program. During install Outlook Express will be installed.

    Though the newest version of IE is 6.0, keep it mind that it was not designed to work with Windows 95.

    Hope this helps!:)

    I concur that Kevin's idea to try repairing IE should be tried first, but the links that you mention in your post for 5-Star and CNET are not for stand-alone version of OE for a windows system. The 5-star link is a download for IE5, of which OE is an included component, and the CNET link is a download for the Mac version of OE 5.03.

    The following is located at Microsofts download site;

    "To get Outlook Express, you need to download Internet Explorer. Please visit the Internet Explorer Web site for additional information about Outlook Express. "

    "Microsoft Product Support Services support section includes an extensive list of questions and answers about Outlook Express."

    Also let me reiterate that IE6 does not work on a WIN95 system. The following is the list of System Requirements needed to run IE6 as stated on the Microsoft Site;

    The recommended system configuration to use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 is Microsoft Windows® 2000, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Windows Me), or Microsoft Windows NT® on a computer running with a Pentium III processor and 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM. Below are the minimum requirements your computer needs to run Internet Explorer 6. Note: Additional system requirements are not required when running Windows XP.

    Minimum Requirements

    Computer/Processor Computer with a 486/66-megahertz (MHz) processor or higher (Pentium processor recommended)

    Operating System Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6a (SP6a) and higher, or Windows 2000
    Memory For Internet Explorer 6:

    RAM requirements depend on the operating system used

    Windows 98:
    16 MB of RAM minimum
    Full install size: 11.5 MB

    Windows 98 Second Edition:
    16 MB of RAM minimum
    Full install size: 12.4 MB

    Windows NT 4.0 with SP6a and higher:
    32 MB of RAM minimum
    Full install size: 12.7 MB

    Windows 2000:
    32 MB of RAM minimum
    Full install size: 12 MB

    Windows Me Edition:
    32 MB of RAM minimum
    Full install size: 8.7 MB

    Drive CD-ROM drive (if installation is done from a CD-ROM)
    Display Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher-resolution monitor with 256 colors

    Peripherals Modem or Internet connection; Microsoft Mouse, Microsoft IntelliMouse®, or compatible pointing device

    Thanks Kevin, that did the trick. I followed your route and Outlook Express was reinstalled and upgraded and is working just great now.
