To read E-Mail in (OE) or to connect to Bellsouth internet (DSL light) I get this response; the host 'mail.bellsouth.net could not be found. socket error:11004, error number: 0x800ccc0d. I have to click on 'Network Connections' ( which indicates that I am connected ) and execute the repair button. This works for that boot period. Have to repeat for new boot up. OS is windows home xp and sp2 with all auto updates. OE ver. is 6.o.29.2180. This may not be a seriouse problem but it's irritating.
    thanks

Microsoft offers a good troubleshooter for this problem: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813514

I will offer my own tip: Make sure your firewall enables what the XP SP2 firewall calls "Allow incoming router requests. "

This is an IGMP "Router Registration" request and if your firewall is denying it you will throw the error trying to send mail.
