I hope someone will be able to help. I am running Windows XP (HE) with IE6 & Outlook Express.

Occasionally I have to use a sent e-mail to 'reply' with. I do not know the reason but sometimes it just sends itself before I have the chance to type ! It doesn't happen all the time but is very frustrating when it does !

Yesterday I had just replied on an e-mail ( didn't get to send it ) when the PC crashed & re-booted itself.

I know I do not have any worms / viruses etc as I have a full Internet Security Firewall + very up-to-date Virus definitions. I have scanned my system a lot of times ! I have even used other programs just to make sure .......

Is there something wrong with OE - if so how do I ' Fix it ' It is frustrating when the mail flies but when OE crashed - I got worried

Thank you in advance for any help. I have all service packs & patches too. Just a very badly behaiving OE !

Is there any way you could be, by accident, pressing the alt key and s key at the same time when typing? That's the keyboard combination to send a message.

When the system crashed, did you get an error message of any kind either before or after the re-boot? More help will be possible if we know at least what XP thought created the crash.

You might need to turn off XP's auto-reboot feature in order to get to display the screen with information about the problem: Start button>right click on My Computer>choose Properties>Advanced tab>Startup and Recovery Settings button>uncheck Automatically Restart and click OK and OK again to close those windows.

    Thank You

    Hi

I will definitely turn off the auto-reboot ( didn't know about this ) I will check the settings ASAP.

I am not sure about hitting the keys when typing but I do know the touchpad & keyboard can be very senstive. One thing I can point out is that when I use ' tools ' to check spelling it sometimes skips the word before I have the chance to select the correct word. This being the case - who knows what it decides when I click to reply ????? I will be very careful when I get the courage to use relpy !

IE crashed today when posting on the forum thus I checked out other postings & found the link to Repair IE ( was much easier in 98se ) I have just used the sfc / scannow and am waiting to see if it has actually repaired what may have been broken.

As the computer rebooted so quickly the error message just flashed and was gone - could not even read one letter. I will make sure to change the setting & hopefully if it happens again I will be able to read & come back with the error message.

Many thanks for the advice about Auto-reboot. I was really puzzled as to why I couldn't read the message - now I know thanks to you ;)
