i just got a new laptop and when i opened up OE in there, it automatically set itself up to work with aol instant messenger. a little section pops up and tells me which buddies are on.

now on my outlook express on my other, year older computer, i can't figure out out to make it work with AIM like that. it's version 6. any ideas?

    Calrockx welcome to Windows BBS

GoTo My AIM--Edit options--Edit preferences--mail...remove all checks and remove all addresses...click apply...click OK...exit AIM...restart your computer. You will need to repeat this if and when you update AIM.

    Hi calrockx,

I got the impression you wanted to set up comp. 2 to automatically load your buddy list also. To do so, first check 'auto-login' and 'save password' on your AIM sign in window. Then on buddy list My AIM>edit options>edit preferences>sign on/off check 'make AIM default' then apply>ok. Now open outlook. If Aim doesn't load, restart comp. and open outlook again. AIM should start. For more info see help in AIM.......index>default instant messaging>buddy list in other applications.

Oops! Guess I didn't read noahdfear's post close enough. In any event, his (her) suggestion about setting it to the default messenging program should do the trick.
