I get these 2 messages when I try to start outlook express 6.
    (Running XP proffessional)

    1st

Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to open the Outlook Express message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Contact Microsoft Support for further assistance. (0x8007007E)

    2nd

Outlook Express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be initialized. Outlook Express may not be installed correctly.

    Please can anyone help?

    Thanks

    Hello Jim,

I've tried both suggestions and still OE6 will not start. I'm still getting the same two messages???

    Any ideas?

GaugeMan--Try these in order, and before going on to the next, see if the problem has been fixed.
    1) Did you try Start|Run|type sfc /scannow? You will have to have your WinXP CD available since you probably will be asked to install it.
    2) Do you have all the latest Windows Updates?
    3) In OE, click File|Folder|Compact all Folders.
    4) At a command prompt type regsvr32 msoe.dll|Enter. Does the message suggest success?
    5) Somewhat drastic, but if you do not mind risking losing all your OE messages, you could delete the files in your OE message store and reboot. The files will be recreated when you reboot, but all files will be empty.
If that does not work, you could try deleting the Message Store folder itself and reboot.
(I suppose you could back these files up somewhere first, but they could be corrupt anyway and will only corrupt things if you try to restore. How to back up
