Am I missing the obvious or do Outlook 2007 Rules have a different interpretation than in Outlook 2003?

In '2003', when setting up a rule to handle messages the option to move a copy to the specified folder did just that. It left a copy in the Inbox and placed a second copy in the specified folder.

In '2007' the same command does not function the same way. When selecting move a copy to the specified folder, it does indeed do just that, but it does not leave a copy in the Inbox.

Is this correct, or this this an enhancement to avoid cluttering up the Inbox?

MOVE should Not leave a copy behind.
    COPY to another folder will....

    Agreed.

However there are two distinct options in the Rules:

What do you want to do with the message?

move a copy to the specified folder

    and

move it to the specified folder.

Clearly the second rule is, explicitly, Move, but the first option is probably grammatically incorrect or at least inconsistent. By implication it places a copy in the specified folder, and, in fact, using the identical rule in Outlook 2003 it does exactly that - leaves the original in the Inbox and places a copy in the relevant destination folder. Specifically, Outlook 2003 does make a copy with this command. Outlook 2007 does not.

Is this a bug, perhaps, or does Microsoft have a different understanding of the rule now?

    Maybe this applies??

Only the client-side "Move to PST File" rule appears to be applied to messages when you use both server-side and client-side rules in Outlook 2007 or in Outlook 2003

That MS 'fix' doesn't have any effect. Surely, though, the filters that are offered in Outlook are client side anyway.

And I am still unclear as to why the identical settings worked 'properly' in Outlook 2003 but not in Outlook 2007.
