When I review the contacts in Outlook 2002, I see the same contact listed multiple times. Even when I delete the duplicate, it is replicated again at a later point. How can I prevent these duplicates ?

When auto complete feature is used, I am sometimes presented with erroneous e-mail addresses. For example, I have a contact set up called, Jones, Mike with e-mail details etc. Someone else called Jones (Bob) sent me an e-mail who is not set up as a contact. Whenever I type Jones into the "send to" box, it always seems to autocomplete using Bob rather than Mike. Is there some other index being used ?

    Cheers !

For the duplicate entries, in Outlook go to Tools>Options>Preferences tab>Email Options button. Make sure the "Automatically put people I reply to" is not checked.

If it is checked and if you replied to the message from Bob Jones, he is now in your Contacts list and Outlook is apparently just using the first Jones it finds in the alphabetic listing.
