Where are the databases stored for Outlook 2000? I wanted to transfer the old address book and messages from a backup but I don't know where to look. Can I just copy those databases when I find them? The IMPORT function for Outlook only looks for Outlook Express data, not other Outlook installations. Thanks.

The databases for Outlook are PAB, PST and OST files.

PAB files are your Personal Addresss Book files. PST files are your Personal Folders, which include your Calendar, Contacts, Deleted Items, Drafts, Inbox, Journal, Notes, Outbox, Sent Items and Tasks. OST files are your archived items from your PST if you manually archived and/or AutoArchiving is configured.

You can copy these files then simply point Outlook to these items to restore. Simply go to Tools - Services, click Add and select the appropriate item and point it to the appropriate file.

Now, if are at work and your mail resides on an Exchange Server, that is a whole different ball of wax...
