My mail server is Outlook Express and my operating system is Windows XP.
When I am going to be out of the office/on vacation, and receive incoming msgs, I would like to have an automatic msg response sent back to the person telling them I am not available until a certain date/time. Can anyone out there assist me in setting up this function on Outlook Express?
I have tried going to tools/internet options but can't find anything. Don't know if it makes a difference or not but, I am not logged into "Windows Messenger ".

    Hi again Sistersue3
Best I can offer is to save it and activate it on the day you wish to use it.

Sistersue3--I am sure Daizy will correct me if I am wrong :D , but I think you have to keep your PC on and OE open while you are away for this to work.

Jim is right. Plus you must set up OE to "check mail every x minutes ". Which means setting up dialup, connecting and disconnecting when completed.

BTW, also saw this as a method for crooks to find out who is home and who is not.. Chances may be remote, but...

Thanks to everyone that responded to myquestion. :p
I guess I'll have to continue notifying all my email buddies when I am going to be out of the office for awhile :( cause I don't want to have to leave my computer and outlook express running while I am gone for
    5 or 6 days
    Thanks again :D
