    The following problem:
I have used under many different DOS since 1984 (starting with TRDOS, then Windows 3.1, etc… up to Win98) a filing system in which the date was coded in 4-digit system leading the order of files. By the Windows-Explorer the order was as follows, i.e. the letters were used in the hexadecimal order:

    4930ymc_xy… 30 Sep 2004
    4A01ymc_xy… 1 Oct 2004
    4C31ymc_xy… 31 Dec 2004
    5101ymc_xy… 1 Jan 2005
    5930ymc_xy… 30 Sep 2005
    5A01ymc_xy… 1 Oct 2005
    5C31ymc_xy… 31 Dec 2005
    6101ymc_xy… 1 Jan 2006
    6930ymc_xy… 30 Sep 2006
    6A01ymc_xy… 1 Oct 2006
    6C31ymc_xy… 31 Dec 2006
    7101ymc_xy… 1 Jan 2006

Now with the Windows XP this does not work anymore that way. The same listing looks now pretty ridiculous on all screen outputs and shuffles files when downloading them to a CD like this:

    4A01ymc_xy… 1 Oct 2004
    4C31ymc_xy… 31 Dec 2004
    5A01ymc_xy… 1 Oct 2005
    5C31ymc_xy… 31 Dec 2005
    6A01ymc_xy… 1 Oct 2006
    6C31ymc_xy… 31 Dec 2006
    4930ymc_xy… 30 Sep 2004
    5101ymc_xy… 1 Jan 2005
    5930ymc_xy… 30 Sep 2005
    6101ymc_xy… 1 Jan 2006
    6930ymc_xy… 30 Sep 2006
    7101ymc_xy… 1 Jan 2006

The letter appear to have a higher order than the figures. Anyone able to advise as how to change the XP-setup to use the same order as before ?

    Many thanks in advance.

Whats the scoop on TRDOS? I'm aware of TRSDOS but never heard of TRDOS. Typo?

Trivial question ............ only to satisfy my curiousity as TRSDOS was what my Dad learned when he took up computing.

TRDOS was the DOS-system for the "beta-Disk" interface from Technology Research Limited, Staines / Middlesex UK, which allowed to have Cumana-5,25" Floppydisk-Drives working together with Sinclair ZX Spectrums. I used this system in the mid-80ties for office work very successfully.
