When I change a disk in my optical drive, it does not refresh, but retains the contents of the previous disk. I have updated the firmware on both my drives.
Also I have reset the autorun in the registry back to autorun. The only way to refresh these drives is to reboot. My O.S. is Win. XP.
    Thank you.
    Yokems.

This little reg tweak has been known to help:

Automatically Refresh File Lists in Explorer

Change the value of UpdateMode in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Update from 01 to 00

Thanks Steve, I think changing the value in update mode did the trick. I tried a couple of disks and so far the drives are refreshing. Just what do the values 01 and 00 represent?
    Again, thanks.
