I have outlook express 6.0 as my default mail and I also have as a backup Incredimail . When I click on the paper clip in outlook express to open attachment it always brings up Incredimail to read attachment how do I change this so it uses my default email outlook express ?
    thank you,
    Bob

Puzzled by this as clicking on an attachment should open the application with which the attachment is associated - i.e. a *.doc attachment should open Word to view.

Try IE > Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Email > Outlook Express.

When I click on the paperclip, nothing happens, never has, and I have reinstalled XP more than a dozen times on this computer. I wonder if there is a paperclip setting that is not enabled by default???

    Johanna,

    To clarify :

I run OE 6 with the preview pane open - clicking on the paperclip icon in the preview pane header gives details of the attachment (double click to open) and the option to 'Save attachments'

bobm735 - does this happen with all attachments? Or only those of a particular extension?

Johanna Maybe Tools - Options - Security and uncheck "Do not allow ... "?

Must be because I don't use the preview pane because the do not allow box is unticked, as always. Thanks Brett & Pete C!

If the attachment is a forwarded email, and it has an EML extension, it appears Incredimail is associated with EML files. In OE, go to Tools\Options, when that window opens, look to the bottom find where it says "This application is the default Mail handler" and click on Make Default.

    Nothing works

I made my outlook express my default mail and when I click on paper clip Incredimail still comes up.
