Hi Guys , thanx for all the great (and free) support I've received on this bbs.

I have a big problem unfortunately

One of the users' Windows 2000 Accounts was deleted , and after recreation of the account the E-mail is not there anymore . The account has exactly the same name as the previous account and is located in the same domain as well .

    Eg : Deleted
    jasonx@domain.com
    Eg New
    jasonx@domain.com

I presume because the SID is not the same , the email will not be delivered to the user . The user uses Microsoft Outlook that came bundled with Office XP .

I've tried looking for pst files on the hdd but cannot find everything ??? Is their something else I can try and look for , because I've tried looking for everything .

    Replies Appreciated

    Are you using MS Exchange?

If not, what program is used for Outlook to connect to?

Outlook should have placed an outlook.pst file for him in his account's Local Settings/Application Data/Microsoft Office/Outlook folder.

May well be hidden and Windows Explorer won't find it unless you are set to search for / show hidden files, system folders, etc.

Unless you are using Exchange Server in which case, you can ignore most of the above.

When running on Exchange server all messages are stored on the server unless a personal folder was created somewhere else. Once the account is deleted, I believe everything associated with it (ie e-mail) is also deleted.

I'll see what I can find out about retrieving deleted info from Exchange and get back to you.

In the meantime are backups being done to Exchange on tape or some other form of backup?
