    Hello All -

I am thinking about uninstalling Office 2003 and doing a custom reinstall of it. I produce a monthly newsletter and I have all of the last 4 years of it archived in folders.

My question is: Do I have to worry about losing any of this archived material in the process of the uninstall/reinstall?

Up until about a year ago all of this was produced with Office (Publisher) 2000. As I open the older stuff I'm asked if I want to convert it to the 2003 format (for lack of a better word) and I allow the conversion.

I am also told that once I convert the files they can't be opened with an older version of Office. I don't have a problem with that but I sure don't want to lose four year's work by customizing a new installation.

As always, any and all help will be greatly appreciated. TIA :)

No, but for safety you should always have your data backed up, regardless of whether or not you propose to repair/uninstall/reinstall Office.
That is correct - whereas new software versions are generally backwards compatible no software can forsee the future :) Current software often has the ability to save in an older format which enables the file to be opened in that older software. Case in point is Office 2007 which has a new file format, but files can be saved in the 2003 format, maybe earlier versions too and, say, 2003 files can be opened in 2007 in Compatability mode without the need for conversion.
