Can anyone shed any light on whether Office 2003 does have a discrete shortcut bar like other earlier versions. I use the shortcut bar frequently and, having installed Office 2003 Pro I am at a loss without it!

    Anyone got any constructive ideas?

The bad news: Office 2003 no longer supports the shortcut bar.

The good news (maybe) is that there is a workaround.

Make a folder somewhere on the harddrive and name it Office or Office Shortcuts or anything else you like.

Put shortcuts to your office programs in that folder.

Once the folder is set up (you can add/delete things to it anytime you want, though), right click on the task bar on the desktop, point at Toolbars, then New Toolbar. Point it at the folder you just made, and once set up as a toolbar, it will appear on your task bar.

If you don't want it to stay on the Task Bar, point at an empty space on the new tool bar, hold down the left mouse button and drag it wherever you like....any side of the screen on out in the middle, makes no difference...and drop it there. You have created a custom "Office Tool Bar. "
