Hi shiraz25 Welcome to Windows BBS

    Please explain

    Lost or deleted ?
    X:\WINDOWS NOTEPAD.EXE

" "How can I get it back as I have no CD.
Only have windows 98 CD." "
Then what OS do you have ?

    OEM Computer ?
Answer that and may be someone can tell you how to extract it from the cd and where, that has same OS

    shiraz25,
You can try out NoteTab a replacement for MS Note Pad it works very well I started with the light version that is free from www.notetab.com/ but use the Pro version now.
    It offers a lot more.
On the happy note I like your name, shiraz happens to be my favorite red.

Notetab must be on your CD in a .cab file.
This helper app has not been changed for years, so it will
surely run on whatever OS you have.
You could also look for wordpad.exe which does the same as Notepad or, as posted above, download Notetab lite which is better than both.
    regards

If it's Notepad you want back, first go to Start>Find>Files and Folders and do a search for "notepad.exe" (without the quotes). It should be in the Windows folder. If it's found, double click on it to open it to see if it works. If it does, replace the shortcut to it you've been using with a new shortcut.

If it's not found or if it doesn't work, go to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information and then to Tools>System File Checker. Tell it you want to extract one file from your Windows 98 CD (which you put into the CD drive) and the name of that file is "notepad.exe" (without the quotes) and tell it to put it in C:\Windows.
