What if anything do you see on the monitor? Do you hear the POST BEEP?
Can you feel the air blowing out the back fan? How do you feel about looking inside your box?

    Thanks!
I have done all of that, All cards are in firmly and theres nothing loose inside. The monitor is blank, if you turn it on it says power saving mode and switched itself to sby.

There a reason the main power light is orange when it is normally green

Then get into the BIOS setup program (tap DEL on boot), and turn off the standby mode.

EDIT: BTW, what mobo are we talking about? I can download a manual and advise you better if you can let me know.

You should find power settings in the bios, and there should be a hardware monitor that indicates the temperatures of the CPU and mobo, and the voltages on various points, as well as the fan speeds. You'll need to check these against the manual.

You may also find a default or 'failsafe' option to choose in this situation.

Sounds like your system is booting directly into suspend or hibernate mode - and not coming out of it.

Can you boot from a floppy disk? Possibilities: hardware failure or virus destruction of bios. Need to know what machine we're dealing with. May have to try to flash the bios.

The first thing I would suspect is the PSU (power supply unit). I have a feeling that the orange/green power LED that you describe is on an OEM machine (like a Compaq or a HP). If it has a standard power unit, you could borrow another to try.

When you press the power button, do any drive/keyboard lights flash? Do the fans start running?
