i am working on a nobilis laptop with a couple problems that to me lead to a failing motherboard but here goes.

    1) with battery removed system at boot will continually reboot itself after the cmos variables display

    2) with battery in and no a.c. system will not turn on

    3) when system finishes the xp logo and goes into desktop a beeping starts loud and continual does not stop. has nothing to do with sound inside windows beep beep beep loud and consistant. is not post code beeps.

have found tons of hits searching with google on constant beeping and have tried everything. only thing i havent done is remove the internal speakers cuz i cant find any specs on nobilis laptops. not a very good laptop from what i have read.

there are 4 light indicators next to the power button and the one closest to the power on button stays amber even when in xp desktop. others are green. amber not good should turn green but its not.

even if i remove the internal speakers that still doesnt fix the problem which i still think is the board. ran checks on the drive and it did fix a problem but that seems to be working ok just this darn beeping that wont stop.

    any thoughts would be appreciated.

I will just start throwing darts ...
If constant beep (fast ?) I would be suspicious of a keyboard key and/or keyboard component shorting out.

dennis L - yea suspected that also but have cleaned the terminals on the keyboard and also used canned air so its as clean as it can get. unfortunately dont have part to pick and choose to see what it could be for laptops. have parts for desktops just not for laps. dang thing has driven me nuts yesterday. cant find the specs on taking it apart to remove the internal speakers.
