    terry2 - Welcome to the Board :)

A couple of points come to mind - check out these settings in Internet Explorer ....

Tools > Internet Options > General tab - Colours button. Is 'Use Windows colours' checked?

On the same tab > Accessibility button - are all the boxes unchecked?

Is this a recent or longstanding problem?

I suspect the security settings in Internet Explorer may be the cause. Please try this experiment ....

Tools > Internet Options > Security - click on Trusted Zone and then on Sites. In the dialogue box which appears type in the URL of WindowsBBS - http://www.windowsbbs.com in the Add box and click on Add. Uncheck the 'Require server verification ...' box and exit out.

Log onto WindowsBBS - do you see a coloured background?

Thank's for the update - I had not come across that problem before except with some web sites which needed to be added to the Trusted Zone to display background colours, etc as my security is extremely tight on the web :)
