In Windows XP, I'm trying to use query with an Excel file. Data > Get External Data > New Database Query. I keep getting a message saying "this data source contains no visible tables ". Well, that's just not so. The file has a very nice table, thank you. 5 to 10 columns, 50 or so rows, no blanks. I've tried it with header labels and without.
I've never tried to use MS Query. I've gone through all the OBDC data source stuff. What have I overlooked??

Does it give you a query setup box like the one pictured below? If so, what source are you trying?

Thanks for your response. I did get that setup box you indicated. After I selected the excel table in the "choose data source" box, that was when I would get the "no visible tables" message.
However, this morning I got the idea to name the table within the file. That did the trick. The Query Wizard came up, showed all the fields, and I was off and running. My "Excel Unleashed" hadn't bothered to mention that part, or maybe I overlooked it. Seems like there's always some things that remain "leashed ".
    Thanks
    Mike
