I have no sound on my computer. Is there a way to check to see if my sound card is okay of if there is some other problem. If you need additional information let me know. I have tried to use the help section to solve problem but to know avail.

Which sounds are you talking about. System sounds or playing music CDs? If you go to a site that plays music on their page, can you hear it? How long have you had this problem? Have you upgraded something else on the machine and accidently maybe bumped the card?

    Try this:

Right click MY COMPUTER/PROPERTIES/DEVICE MANAGER. Go down to AUDIO/VIDEO/SOUNDS and delete that line. Reboot your computer. By doing this, it will rebuild your sound card files and jumpstart anything that might have been hanging for whatever reason.

Holler back to let us know if this worked, or not. We'll keep trying untl we get it right!!

    :)

Mike1Webster--Are your speakers plugged in? :) (The cord can get loose or fall out, especially if you have worked on the tower.)
Have you checked Volume Control, especially for Master Out? (Is Mute checked?)

All good suggestions for possible problem fixers. Guess we should try to establish if this is [1] a disabled sound card or [2]one that is, by all appearances, installed and recognized correctly but is silent.

    Scenario One:
    Any ticks in device manager?

    Scenario Two:
When you are in a sound scheme preference setting and play a sample of a chosen sound, does it appear to play back but you cannot hear it.

Thanks Everyone for the tips. I have got it going again. I went back through my sound card troubleshooter and it started working. I would have gotten back with you sooner but my ISP was down and I had no internet service for half a day. I think it was my sound files as but not sure as I did alot of things before and I'm not sure which one worked. Anyways all is well for now.
    Thanks;)

Super! Glad you got it going again. Just wish we knew what exactly it was so we all could benefit from the solution. But, at least you're back on track and happy. That is our motto. Keep'em happy! LOL.

    :)
