Trying to set up new HD. Moved sytem to other room to work on it. Can't see anything that has changed. Monitor is hooked up to port. Card is well seated. Other end of cord in Monitor. This is power, and monitor shows no signal.
I'm booting from XP disc, but nothing to monitor.
    I'm out of ideas.

Does the motherboard also have onboard video? If so disable it. Also check in the Bios for primary graphics option PCI or AGP and enable the one appropriate for your graphics card.

I've made no changes to the setup or motherboard since running the other drive yesterday.
Can get any signal to monitor to enter Bios.

I moved my box and monitor into another room to work on formatting the HD etc, and I have no signal to monitor.
Unhooked old HD and removed IDE cable from IDE 1 slot. IDE 2 slot still occupied by CD Roms. Hooked up SATA HD and cables (data and power). XP disc in CD Rom, fired up and so signal. Monitor shows self test signal, ut nothing from computer. Checked all connections (at monitor and video card). Even reseated vid card.
    Don't know what to think.

    Found it.
Bent pin in the monitor cord to video card.
    My bad!
