Would really appreciate some help with this one...
I have recently lost all sound on my HP computer running Windows ME. When I go thru the control panel to sounds and multimedia, it says I have no playback device installed. However, I have the Crystal Audio Codec installed. Any idea how to fix this problem?

    Thanks

As an addition, when I click on the driver, it says it is functioning properly but is "inactive due to an unknown problem "

    Thanks again

had similat problem recently, just download the driver from the net, and reinstall it... that did the job here
I had the problem because my reg scanner threw away one of my music driver rules..

    thanks but...

I did a web search for the problem and was advised to boot in safe mode, remove all drivers under sounds, multimedia, etc. and then restart in normal mode. Lo and behold, it worked....thanks for the reply duckie, but I had already tried reinstalling drivers several times but didnt know about doing it in safe mode.......thanks again.........:)
